Bian Zhongyun, a communist party member and the head of the Girl High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University, was tortured to death on August 5th, 1966. She was believed to be the first victim among teachers killed by hand of their students during the "Red August" of 1966 as the Cultural Revolution began in mainland China.
The documentary starts by the image of an old camera, it focuses on the way of seeing and thinking of Bian’s husband, a communist and historian. It depicts the event and demonstrates how the family members, students and colleagues of Bian experienced the terror. As In Search of Lin Zhao’s Soul made by Hu Jie, the documentary also raise the issue on the memory of the past.
